Texas Department of Public Safety requires a Telecommunications Manager 2 to provide leadership and oversight of Network Services operations, including WAN, LAN, wireless, SD-WAN, and network security platforms. The role involves overseeing daily operational activities including incident management, problem resolution, and service availability; serving as escalation point for high-priority network and infrastructure issues; coordinating and prioritizing workload across Network Services teams; supporting ongoing and planned initiatives including SD-WAN implementation and optimization, network monitoring and observability tools (ThousandEyes, AppDynamics), and security integrations (Secure Workload, NGFW, identity services); providing vendor coordination and oversight for network-related services and contracts; ensuring compliance with Agency security standards, policies, and regulatory requirements; participating in change management processes and ensuring proper documentation and approvals; collaborating with Infrastructure Engineering, Data Center, Telecom, and Security teams to support cross-functional initiatives; providing status reporting, risk identification, and mitigation planning to leadership; maintaining documentation of network architecture, processes, and operational procedures; and supporting knowledge transfer and continuity planning for the return of the permanent Network Services Manager.
